Welcome to the Deadeye Squadron homepage. Deysquad is a virtual WW2 squadron flying Oleg Maddox's well known combat flight-sim, IL2 Forgotten Battles.
Read more about DEYSQUAD...
Our members come from many parts of the globe, which in itself makes
DEY unusual compared to most il2 squadrons frequenting the virtual
skies. Being in DEY is more than just flying a sim. Each member brings
something unique, whether it's a particular flying style, a certain
sense of humour, or an interesting accent. A great sense of comradeship
has developed over the years, aswell as the continual improvement of
our pilot's various skills in the air.
Of course, there is
something in common amongst all our pilots - an enthusiasm for WW2
aviation and a healthy respect for the bravery and skill of the actual
pilots who took part in the what is now commonly called, The Air War.
Deysquad in it's current incarnation began in 2003, it's founding members being DEY_Shrike_UK and DEY_Andreas_SWE. The rest of the initial members came from a previous squadron called NDS (Napalm Death Squad). Our website was just a yahoo group with about a dozen members. With the popularity of Forgotten Battles exploding into 2004, we picked up many new members, and work began on a official website.
Late 2004 DEY saw some big changes, namley that of another new website developed by our good friend and webdeveloper, DEY_Avenger_NOR. Another big change was leaving ubilobby behind us for good. More and more of us were using hyperlobby as our meeting place, and it was agreed that a amicable split was in order. Those of us who preferred flying with external views on would go their own way, and we wished them the best of luck in their future endeavours. The rest of us stayed on, and along with avenger's new site, we had the foundation of DEY as we now know it. Our commitment to flying without externals was consolidated by registering with the FISC group.
2005 saw the retirement of our then Commanding Officer, DEY_Arrow_USA. His newfound fatherhood left little time for flying, and his departure was marked by many congratulations for his baby girl, and many thanks for his work with Deysquad.
Through the rest of 2005 and 2006 we continued to develop our piloting skills and flew in a number of arenas, both online wars and dogfight servers. We also had a number of tournaments with our sister squad, JZG23.

We tried our hand at GhostSkies, and convincingly won Golf Cycle.
Now, as 2006 marches on, we continue to grow as a squadron, our pilots ranking highly on various server stats, both in terms of fighter combat, and with our newfound specialist Bomber Wing, ground kills.
Our forum is active, along with our dedicated teamspeak server, many thanks to DEY_Jive_USA.
Flying aside, being in DEY is about catching up with friends and sharing our enthusiasm for WW2 aviation.
Salute~
Commanding Officer,
Deadeye Squadron
