From the DEY forum...
I'm pleased to annouce that the new DEY website is now active. Going to the old site should now automatically redirect the user to the new site. If it doesn't, your browser is probably loading out of your cache.

The old site still exists for the moment in case the new site falls in a heap, however, once it looks like we are safely stable in the new site I will delete the old site to increase storage space on our server.

Most of you have already registered on the new site, but for those who haven't, register up now!
There is still more work to be done, but nothing that should delay us enjoying the new site as of now. The new site is best viewed using firefox, using IE will result in a few minor graphics bugs. I haven't worried to much about these because frankly, we should all be using firefox (or opera) by now!

The pilot profile section is still a work in progress, however, send me your profile bits so I can put them in. You need to send me a screenshot and some text to include in your profiles.
Check out my profile for an example...

Of course, let me know if you find any bugs or have any suggestions.

February screenie
Written by Administrator

This month's featured screenie is one I took of Jive in Historia2.  We were doing some ground pounding with sturmos, unfortunatly I lost a wing to flak so this piccy was taken from my grave :(.
It's pretty much straight out of the game, except I desaturated the sky with photoshop to make it look overcast.

Patch 4.08 released
Written by Administrator
Friday, 09 February 2007
Patch 4.08 has been released at ubisoft.  There is some talk that this could be the last patch ever for il2, but personally I wouldn't be suprised to see another one.  4.08 contains no new planes, just bug fixes and some new maps, which by all reports are great.  Click read more to see the readme file.

Thoughts on IL2 1946

Well I gotta say I'm impressed with the latest update to IL2FB.  Firstly, it's great to have the complete install on one dvd instead of the headache arising from installing FB, then AEP, then PF, then a load of patches.

Secondly, for the first time since I've had this game, the in-game sound actually sounds good.  There's not much mentioned in the readme files about sound improvements, but for me this is a huge improvement - I can actually hear the engines of the planes I'm flying in formation with for a change.  I'm using older nforce2 sound - I imagine most people probably arn't noticing much difference because it was already working for them quite well.

Lastly, the flight-modelling seems to have smoothed out wobbles slightly, not much, but enough to feel nice and solid when you're rolling in for an attack in a big bird like a 47 or an A20.
So all up, I'm happy with the release.

A visit to Oleg's Office - BOB
Written by Administrator

The following article was translated and posted to the simhq forum by VSlash...

So, at last I made it to the very heart of the virtual aviation world. In the developers’ office of world’s most famous aviasimulator IL-2 Sturmovik, and, the “Storm of War: Battle over Britain”, which, as I hope, will become much more famous in the future.
I think I can skip description of all the events preceding the visit as: making preliminary agreements, the trip to town-hero Moscow and searching of the office itself, as they don’t have much to do with the main topic itself. Though, one remark on that point is that the office is located 5 minutes of walking away from the Central museum of Russian Army, which has a huge ballistic rocket standing at the entrance. Sad thing I didn’t have a chance to go to the museum. [Frown]

Tourney with VA Squad

Our tourney with VA squad was dissapointing - because they didn't show up. On the other hand, DEY members provided a good turn out, and wasted no-time enjoying themselves in various coops and dogfights. Many thanks to Jive and Sandman who put in much effort to make the map and organise the event. Don't throw that map away Jive, we'll get to fly it one day!

Flying the Tempest

Ok think I've tempestgotten the hang of it now. Fun plane to fly, needs lots of tweaking and has a horrible overheat problem. It's kinda cool that you have to monitor some of your gauges in order to get a little more out of her, boost, rpm and oil temp... Handles nicely too, good rate of roll combined with light controls and an okish zoom climb.
